Ah, Facebook. We know it's for "old people", but hear us out.
Facebook is still the most popular social media site in the world - use this to your advantage.
This tactic has also proven to be the most lucrative for generating profile views for our tutors.
The best thing about using Facebook to market yourself is that it's easy to search and full of groups. Exploring and joining student-populated groups might just turn into your most lucrative acquisition channel; so, make sure you are thorough.

Why?
Being in the right groups and knowing how to use them will make finding students substantially easier. Taking the time now to identify/join key groups and then maintaining your engagement with these groups throughout the year will help you find and connect with students who could use your help.
How?
- Find and join groups 🔎 ****
- The easiest groups to find (and often the most active) are your school's “Class of 20XX” groups. Additionally, there may be cohort-specific groups you can join, or your campus may be in the Facebook Campus pilot!
- Next, search for the courses you cover to see if there are any relevant course-specific groups you could join.
- Make your initial post in each group ✏️ ****
- Once you have been accepted into a group, it is time to start marketing yourself. That being said, make sure to note any rules of engagement that group administrators have set.
- To do this, post your Knack profile URL and introduce yourself to each of the groups you are in.
- You can use these templates for inspiration**,** but messages should be specific to the group for optimal results.
- Periodically check for posts about needing help/looking for a tutor 🕵️‍♀️ ****
- An easy way to do this is to search the word tutor and filter your search to include posts from “Your Friends and Groups.”
- Just make a comment linking to your profile/telling them your rate or shoot them a message to discuss (and comment “Messaged you” so they know to check their message requests).
